We came back to our apartment, grabbed some gear and then took a taxi down to the battlefields of Waterloo. There are four things to do there. <\/p>\n<p>The first is to walk up The Lion&#8217;s Mound which is a large conical artificial hill erected on the battlefield of Waterloo to commemorate the location where William II of the Netherlands (the Prince of Orange) was knocked from his horse by a musket ball to the shoulder during the battle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hugin.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120513-184730.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hugin.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120513-184730.jpg\" alt=\"20120513-184730.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe second was to do a tour of the battlefield in an open bus. The third was to look at a small wax display of the main characters of the conflict. The final thing to do was to watch a couple of movies which depict what happened on the fateful day in June 1815.<\/p>\n<p>I had heard a lot about the battle of Waterloo from my brother, Nick, and it was good to see the area in real life.<\/p>\n<p>After finishing looking st at battlefield and associated museums we caught the bus back to Brussels Midi where we had dinner and caught a taxi back to our apartment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a late breakfast at Toison D&#8217;Or.
